			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Suddenly, it creeps up on you. You are suddenly panic-stricken at the idea that you will die one day. You think &#8220;What if someone breaks into the house and murders me tonight&#8221;. You start entertaining and believing the scariest thoughts, and you forget that all of them are highly remote. The most weirdest thing, is these thoughts visit your mind for no reason or cause. Along with the thoughts, you feel physically revved up, sweat, and feel a lump in your throat. You wonder what&#8217;s wrong and think about calling 9-1-1, but don&#8217;t. Nothing is really wrong and the panic will stop in about an hour. Panic attacks are not real physical problems and only originate in the mind. How do I know this?  I&#8217;ve been through this before, and so has a family member of mine. Such a panic attack is brought on by, I can speculate, a biological process in the mind that may set-off a false terror to a person&#8217;s fight or flight adrenalin response. A person can be fooled into thinking something is seriously wrong, call the hospital, and end-up in inpatient for an evening. Let me tell you why this is the worse thing you can do.
</p>
<p>First off, the doctor will not take you very seriously at your word due to the fact you are having a psychiatric problem, and he/she could place you into a psychiatric ward as soon as you mention your having thoughts of death. It won&#8217;t matter that you&#8217;ll have to be at work the next day, or have kids to remove care of. The doctor can take your complaint of a fear of death to mean you are suicidal or homicidal, or the doctor can overreact to your condition and misjudge the best solution for you. These common miscalculations of doctors can create a downward spiral for you should you end-up in a psychiatric ward, as being confined in one can have a major impact on your life outside it. Being locked up in a psychiatric unit is as damaging as going to jail. The nurses and doctors who would place you into a psych unit think your mental health is of upmost importance and consider all your responsibilities not to matter now that your mental health is unstable. So, please do not go to a hospital when you are only having a alarm attack. Also, emergency room and inpatient ward visits are about 5 times more expensive than regular appointment visits, unless you have medi-cal. But, if you have medi-cal, your odds of getting an accurate diagnosis and expedient care are slim, because doctors don&#8217;t like to waste time on medi-cal patients in emergency rooms. Also, in an emergency room, you&#8217;ll wait forever, and by the time you get into to see a doctor, your anxiety attack will be over.
</p>
<p>Next, it is a good idea to bewitch some over-the-counter sleeping pills. Right now, if you are a type that has anxiety attacks, get a small stock from a drug store or Wal-mart of over-the-counter sleeping pills, unless you gain addicted to them. If you get addicted, please try to just ride-out your anxiety attack by lying down until it&#8217;s over, and not using sleeping pills. During a panic attack, don&#8217;t interrogate to be able to concentrate on anything like reading, doing homework, or any tasks. Sleeping pills will help effect you to sleep in the midst of a panic attack, or at least, make it&#8217;s symptoms milder. If you are not an alcoholic, have a couple drinks unless you&#8217;re sure a couple alcoholic drinks will accomplish you worse. Sit in one place and get yourself as comfortable as you can. Do not rep into the shower, bathtub, or go out in public. If you go out in public, only one person or event can set you off, and you can succumb to worse panic. If you can&#8217;t go home from work, try to go on an errand that will prefer you away from the office, or let you hang out in the bathroom for a bit. Don&#8217;t show that you are having a panic attack around co-workers. Under no circumstances should you take any prescribed medications from anyone you may converse to that you are having a panic attack. Prescribed medications are custom for everyone, and what can help one person can severely harm another. Do not take sleeping pills at work. You will be drowsy all day to such a severity, that it can do irreversible damage should you botch a job, or appear to be completely out of it. There are people who never derive over such things when they see a co-worker really mess things up, or look completely stoned for one day. Someone can speculate that you gather stoned or drunk during your breaks, and if this becomes a big rumor, you can lose your job these days. Don&#8217;t develop yourself the centerpiece of attention, even though &#8216;Gabby&#8217; across from you, at another cubicle, makes herself stand out every 5 minutes by talking about her latest, most private situation. Don&#8217;t copy &#8216;Gabby&#8217;. At work, it&#8217;s no okay to reveal everyone your suffering, look dead, mess up the job, or make your problem the center-piece of office talk, unless the office culture is this way. At most places of employment, even though you contemplate you might get current doing this, don&#8217;t. Most people find a person who behaves in these ways to be annoying.
</p>
<p>Finally, when you get through the day, or evening, if you have the attack at home, just discontinue put and let it ride. It won&#8217;t last forever. Remember, the death fears and other fears are not real. During the attack, write a list (if you are able) of all your symptoms, what you are thinking and feeling, and don&#8217;t react to the panic by running outside or acting nuts to stop what you think is something about to happen to you, unless &#8216;Freddy&#8217; or &#8216;Jason&#8217; really is outside trying to find in and ruin you, or a plane really is coming down from the sky. Fear from a panic attack is not real. Next day, bring the list in which you wrote your symptoms and thoughts on, and see your doctor as soon as you can get in with an appointment. Show the list to your doctor and discuss your experience. Most likely, the doctor will prescribe you medication to hold onto in case you have another attack.<br /></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>The world of supplements to succor you lose weight is a literal minefield of overstated claims and well-known infomercials laden with computer generated overlays.<br />Those models depicted walking down a beach (blonde, tan, beautiful, and lean) as grossly overweight individuals before they tried the supplement and lost &#8220;40 pounds&#8221; is to me the biggest health scam to hit the American public, since the Cure ALL Tonic waters of the 1800&#8217;s.
</p>
<p>In short, a bogus marketing ploy that generates (steals) billions of dollars a year from fair people just looking for help. Unfortunately, like most people, I have also tried many of them.
</p>
<p>Since the ingredients in them are mostly the same due to the FDA not taking enough responsibility in paring down what can be consumed, I am not going to go through them all. I will tell you that we have had many cases where folks we have been able to help had taken Hydroxycut, Stackers 1 and 2, and Xenadrine EFX without much success.<br />I have tried those and several others, but as I said the ingredients are mostly the same except for their &#8220;signature&#8221; ingredients such as Hydroxy-tea in the aforementioned Hydroxycut and Thermodyne Complex in Xenadrine EFX. These are touted as proprietary fat burners and metabolism enhancers.
</p>
<p>The primary ingredient responsible for the energy you catch is caffeine. Yes &#8211; that&#8217;s moral dreary aged caffeine! The other hodge-podge of herbs and ingredients are supposedly combined for a &#8220;synergistic&#8221; fat burning process in your body.
</p>
<p>So, tell me what&#8217;s worth to you to get the little pep you need, that extra energy?  A $40.00 bottle of pills or a 10-cent cup of coffee?  Even the common Green Tea that is now being used by all sorts of people is simply unbiased caffeine.<br />The truth is when I first tried the supplements they contained ephedra and folks &#8211; it worked. I lost weight. I outmoded the Stacker brand.
</p>
<p>Again same basic ingredients and I lost about 3 pounds a week. Ephedra is a very strong stimulant and blood thinner.<br />Like the amphetamine weight loss supplements of the 1970&#8217;s it speeds up your metabolism and eases hunger pangs. As ephedra became more accepted there were increasing reports of strokes and heart failure incidents.
</p>
<p>Supplements that Do Work
</p>
<p>Vitamins. You have had at your disposal all along some things that will back to aid you weight loss. If you are not on supplemental vitamins you need to start now.<br />One of the positives to come out of the Atkins Diet study gives results for folks who took 1000+ daily doses of vitamin C as compared to those on his diet that did not take the vitamin C. Those who did lost significantly more weight. Upwards of 10 additional pounds!<br />Here is a rundown of the main vitamins and what a deficiency does to the body. Many actually contribute to obesity. This is a short list.
</p>
<p>Vitamin A &#8211; found in fruits such as Apricots, vegetables like Broccoli, and almost ALL red vegetables and fruits. Highest concentrations can be found in Tomatoes and Sweet Potatoes.<br />Deficiency can lead to gum disease, gastro intestinal issues, and skin problems.
</p>
<p>Vitamin B6 &#8211; found in leafy greens like lettuce (except iceberg), poultry, sweet potatoes, figs, and red meats. Deficiency can lead to depression that can contribute to overeating and obesity, migraines, and negative effects of stress.
</p>
<p>Vitamin B12 &#8211; found in red meat, poultry, seafood, and sea plants such as kelp and sea weed. Studies have indicated a common deficiency of this energy in overweight people.<br />Deficiency has been linked to mental illness and depression as well as Alzheimer&#8217;s. Poor memory is also an indication of a deficiency in this important vitamin.
</p>
<p>Vitamin C &#8211; one of the main antioxidants, this invaluable vitamin is found in Strawberries (has the highest concentration), most other fruits, and citrus. I recommend for you to consume Vitamin C supplementation while on the Weight Loss By The Numbers Plan. Remember, we are trying to reduce sugar for a while.

<p>Calcium &#8211; Most people already understand the role that calcium plays in strong bones and good overall health. You have to have it. Recent studies have also shown that calcium helps you to lose weight, particularly in the abdominal region.

<p>I have to admit that I had already figured this out on my own when going through my personal trail and error with weight loss. Science is now backing it up. Adding calcium rich foods to your diet will help you stay healthy and lose the belly fat.

However, once you launch on a low calorie diet you&#8217;ll find that almost no food is truly off limits, that most healthy foods are extremely good tasting, and that the key to success is found not in deprivation and sacrifice but in changing our attitudes towards piece size, meal planning and environment, and our relationship with food in general.

<p>Ouch. That is nearly an entire day&#8217;s calories for one meal. Now take a look at the revised version which uses the same ingredients, except the omission of the flour, but has only been modified in terms of amounts:

</p>
<p>1 Half Chicken Breast, cubed
</p>
<p>1 Tablespoons Olive Oil
</p>
<p>1 scant 0.25 or handful of Penne or other medium pasta, cooked al dente
</p>
<p>0.5 Cup Jarred Marinara Sauce
</p>
<p>1 Tablespoon Grated Parmesan Cheese
</p>
<p>Prepared the same as the original recipe, this version equals out to about <em>425 calories with 18 grams of fat</em>. This would be an easy, healthy lunch or dinner that alongside a green salad could easily fit into a 1200-1400 calorie diet. This recipe also proves that you can eat &#8220;normal&#8221; food like pasta with a little cheese even, as long as care is taken with how much we eat, which leads into the next bit of this article.
</p>
<p><b>Celebrate Food &amp;  Enjoy&#8230; and Still Stick to a Low Calorie Diet</b>
</p>
<p>Now, I know you will hear some people tell you that all fats and sweets are off limits, but in my book that is nonsense and nearly every food can still be enjoyed when on a outrageous calorie diet to lose weight. Of course, there are definite no-no foods that you might want to consider blocking completely, such as processed foods, white sugar, and fried foods. But at the end of the day those foods aren&#8217;t wonderful for you anyway so you&#8217;ll be saving calories and at the same time improving your health. And what better scheme to expend those saved calories on marvelous fats like olive oil, health promoting sweets like a square of quality dark chocolate, and perhaps a nice breakfast of an egg with toast&#8230; buttered toast. This might sound like a recipe for fattening up rather than slimming, but think this sample diet and weigh out how something like it might suit you when considering a low calorie diet:

<p>5 Large Black Olives and 1 Medium Orange
</p>

<p>4 Ounces Grilled or Broiled Salmon (no added pudgy), 1 Cup Steamed Broccoli &amp; Cauliflower, 0.5 Cup Wild Rice

<p>Not so bad considering you are collected able to eat some gorgeous tasty foods, snacks included. Of course, this menu view can be varied in many different ways depending on your needs. <p>Much has been written lately about how obesity is overtaking .&nbsp; Although some of it is undoubtedly media hype, there is some grain of truth to it.&nbsp; Since we no longer have to farm or do heavy labor to ensure our survival, many of us have taken to a very sedentary lifestyle.&nbsp; As long as you are fit, your weight probably isn&#8217;t an articulate, but most of us who struggle with our weight also struggle with fitness.&nbsp; Personally, I have watched both my blood sugar and my blood pressure creep up.
</p>
<p>I have had life-long issues with my weight.&nbsp; I went from 160 in high school to about 210 in college, then lost 20 pounds, gained 40, lost 50, gained 80, etc.&nbsp; My current weight is just perfect&#8230;&#8230;for a 7-foot-8-inch vast person.&nbsp; I&#8217;m not sure even Manut Bol is that tall.&nbsp; But, I have lost 25 pounds over the past two years, so I am feeling like I am making progress.&nbsp; I just needed to gain the trigger that would make me want to change my habits.&nbsp; Everyone will have their hold trigger point, but I will allotment my epic with you to help you to see that it may not be any one thing, it may be a series of events that will finally acquire you get serious about losing weight and keeping it off.
</p>
<p>There were several things that happened within the space of about a year and a half that made me decide to finally lose some weight and keep it off.&nbsp; First, I met a couple of people who had gone through gastric bypass surgery.&nbsp; They had lost a lot of weight, but I saw that they still struggled with their eating and serene had to undergo several other surgeries due to problems brought on by the initial surgery.&nbsp; Then, I read where doctors would start considering surgery when you were 100 pounds over your ideal weight.&nbsp; I was 95 pounds over and knew I did not want to have this surgery.
</p>
<p>Next, I attended the funeral of my aunt.&nbsp; I looked around at her grandkids and realized how fortunate they were to have known her for as long as they did.&nbsp; She did not die of a weight-related ailment, and in fact, has been skinny as a rail all of her life.&nbsp; However, it made me think about the fact that I would not live to see my grandchildren grow up if I continued to gain weight at the rate I was currently gaining.&nbsp; I realized how grateful I was that both of my parents were still alive (at that time), even though I had recently turned 40.&nbsp; My youngest was only 4 years archaic at the time, so I knew that I had a long time to go if I wanted to discover how my grandkids turned out.
</p>
<p>The third thing that happened was that we went away for a weekend in Amish country and decided to go horseback riding.&nbsp; When we checked in, the clerk gave me a look and stated that they had a weight limit.&nbsp; Even though I was below the limit, I wasn&#8217;t far away, and I started wondering about how bad I had to look that people would capture that an animal capable of pulling a buggy filled with Amish people could not carry me on its back.
</p>
<p>Soon after that, I checked into the hospital for surgery on my varicose veins, which are also related to being overweight.&nbsp; The nurse in the pre-op room made a point of telling me that she would interrogate a bigger bed for me so I would be more comfortable.&nbsp; Again, one of those moments that made me really look at what I had allowed myself to become.&nbsp; Now, I appreciated the bigger bed, don&#8217;t get me wrong; I just didn&#8217;t want to have to think about the fact that I needed it.
</p>
<p>Finally, the thing that really triggered it for me was a trip to the doctor&#8217;s office for blood work.&nbsp;&nbsp; My blood pressure had been just on the verge of being too high for several months, but I figured that even if it went up, all I would have to do was take some medication and I could control it.&nbsp; That didn&#8217;t seem like that colossal of a sacrifice.&nbsp; However, the blood work revealed that my sugar level was also rising.&nbsp; I have a friend who just became diabetic, and saw how she tried to eat to control her sugar.&nbsp; I knew that I could not succeed with that type of diet for the rest of my life.&nbsp; I love chocolate, pasta, potatoes, all the things you are supposed to limit when you have diabetes.&nbsp; If my sugar continued to go up, I knew I would have to make some life changes that I was not prepared to produce.
</p>
<p>So, I decided to address my problem now, in my own way, rather than being forced into something I would detest later.&nbsp; &#8220;My maintain way&#8221; meant that I still had to be able to eat chocolate when I wanted to, and I had to have exercise habits that fit into my busy schedule.&nbsp; I have a full-time job, two blogs, a small business, and three special needs children.&nbsp; It&#8217;s not like I could just spend hours a day cooking special meals or going to the gym.&nbsp;
</p>
<p>I came encourage from the doctor&#8217;s office and immediately removed the candy dish from my desk.&nbsp; My staff complained, but I didn&#8217;t relent.&nbsp; It was tough for me, because I had always (for the previous 3 years) had a bowl of some kind of chocolate on my desk.&nbsp; Whenever I was waiting for my computer to flip to a new screen, I would grab a handful.&nbsp; The next day, I brought a water bottle and site it where the candy dish had been.&nbsp; That method, when I reached to that spot out of habit, all I would get was water.&nbsp; I stuck with unbiased that for a week or so until the cravings diminished.&nbsp; Note that I did NOT stop eating chocolate.&nbsp; I objective made it a little harder to get to.&nbsp; Now, I have to at least walk down the hall to the candy machine when I need a fix.&nbsp; This provides exercise, as well as forces me to contemplate about how many trips I want to make in fleshy view of my staff.&nbsp; (Yes, I had on occasion hidden candy around my house and office so no one would know how much I was eating.)
</p>
<p>Once I was comfortable without the candy dish (sort of), I added a walking program to my day.&nbsp; I began parking at the farthest spot in my office parking lot, and walking around the blocks, rather than cutting across directly to the door.&nbsp; I came up with a route that was about &frac12;-mile, which initially took 20 minutes for me to walk.&nbsp; (I am now down to 15 minutes.)&nbsp; Once I was comfortable with that, I began walking on my lunch.&nbsp; I would leave my lunch in a cooler in my car trunk, so I was forced to go out to my car to get it.&nbsp; Using the same route I did in the morning, I then got in a mile roundtrip just to get my lunch.
</p>
<p>Then, I began to get up about 20 minutes early in the mornings to do some calisthenics and weight training.&nbsp; I don&rsquo;t do it every day, but I have noticed a difference in the way I feel when I get some exercise.
</p>
<p>Probably the hardest thing I had to change was giving up pop (or soda, for those of you in the Northeast.)&nbsp; I had a habit of 6 &ndash; 8 cans per day.&nbsp; My doctor had made me slash encourage on caffeine several years ago due to cysts in my breasts, and most places do not carry diet decaffeinated pop in their vending machines or restaurant fountains.&nbsp; At least, that was my excuse anyways.&nbsp; Finally, I began cutting back on the sugared pop.&nbsp; I started by drinking water at work, but unexcited having pop at home or when I had emptied the water bottles I brought.&nbsp; (Note I carried in my own water &ndash; more exercise!)&nbsp; Then, I began setting a certain hour after which I would not have any more sugared pop.&nbsp; This was the same way I had given up caffeinated pop.&nbsp; So after <time minute="0" hour="18"></time>6 pm, I switched to diet pop or water.&nbsp; Then, after <time minute="0" hour="15"></time>3 pm, then <time minute="0" hour="12"></time>noon, etc, until I was totally on diet pop and water for the most part.&nbsp; I still have a coke every once in awhile to decide my stomach, or I&rsquo;ll have a sugared pop when I eat out.&nbsp; But, the majority of the time I just have water.&nbsp; That has really made a incompatibility in my complexion as well as my weight.
</p>
<p>The most recent change I have made is that when my kids want to eat fast food, I try to pick a restaurant that carries healthier choices, such as grilled chicken or baked potatoes.&nbsp; (I don&rsquo;t do rabbit food.)
</p>
<p>So, as you can scrutinize, I have made gradual changes in my lifestyle, all of which encompass the philosophy of &ldquo;more sweat, fewer calories&rdquo;, which is the only &ldquo;secret&rdquo; to weight loss.&nbsp; It is not hasty, it is not easy, it is not a gimmick.&nbsp; It is just a good, common sense way to slowly and healthfully remove off the pounds.&nbsp; And because I am not making major changes, such as eating only grapefruit, I am able to maintain the lifestyle long-term.&nbsp; I still have days when I don&rsquo;t exercise at all.&nbsp; And I have days when I eat way too much.&nbsp; But I always figure that if I weigh less at the end of the week than I did at the beginning, it was a good week.
